Virtual Drum Kit — How to Play & Build Beats
What you have: an on-screen drum kit playable by tapping pads or pressing keys — snare, kick, toms, hi-hat, and cymbals, all synthesized live in your browser.
Your first beat in 3 steps
- Count 1-2-3-4 out loud at a comfortable speed — that's your tempo.
- Kick on 1 and 3, snare on 2 and 4. That skeleton is the backbone of rock and pop.
- Add hi-hat on every count (or every half-count) to glue it together.
FAQ
How do I get tighter timing?
Practice with a metronome and record yourself — the gap between what you think you played and what you played is the lesson.
What is a fill?
A short pattern (usually 1–2 counts at the end of a phrase) using toms and snare that transitions between sections.
